Planet West Training for Three Peaks Challenge

Planet West Training for Three Peaks Challenge

Members of Planet's western contracting team are currently training in anticipation of participating in the Three Peaks Challenge this summer to raise money for Just4Children.

The team — comprising Levi Feast, Andy Padfield, Gemma Parker, Luke Harvey, and Rachael Davies — will be climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales, all within a 24 hour period starting on Friday 8 July 2022. The total walking distance is 23 miles & the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft), plus time spent needed to drive 432 miles between the peaks.

They are undertaking the challenge with the aim of raising £5,000 for Sabrina, a seven-year-old girl from Swindon diagnosed with the rare metabolic disease ALG1 CDG.

At time of writing the team had already completed two training sessions together.

"Training is going very well," said Planet West estimator Levi, who is a member of Sabrina's extended family and is spearheading the team's efforts. "For our first training day we trekked up to the peak of Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons; the second one we trekked just under 10 miles across the Malvern hills — both of which were very chilly and windy days."

An 18 mile coastal walk with (plenty of hill climbs) is planned for March, with a further session then earmarked in May.

As well as building their fitness levels for the gruelling challenge, the team are also finding other benefits from their shared experience.

"Although we already though each other quite well, it has enabled us to get to know each other on an even more personal level," explained Levi.

"The views have also been incredible, which I think has helped with the mentality to keep going!"
