Supporting LGBTQ+ at Radii Planet Group.

June is recognised as LGBT Pride Month, while 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the very first pride event to take place in the UK.  

At Radii Planet Group we are committed to diversity, social inclusion and equality and aim to create a supportive working environment that embraces and celebrates all cultures and backgrounds.

The construction industry has made progress in the last decade as it becomes more inclusive of LGBTQ+ – however, there is still much progress to be made to foster a stronger sense of belonging and further reduce any discrimination.

Employers can play a big part this Pride Month (and beyond) by stepping up and taking action to make sure everyone in the LGBTQ+ community feels safe and included at work every day of the year.

 

 

Here's what RPG are doing:

Diversity & Inclusion

Forming part of our overall People Strategy, Radii Planet Group's Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Value Committee is working on initiatives to improve the diverse and inclusive nature of our workforce as well as engaging with our local communities to advance our social value commitments.

To improve our work with the LGBTQ+ community we have now appointed a dedicated LGBTQ+ champion to our committee.

They will take the lead and ensure that our commitment to LGBTQ+ support does not end with the end of Pride Month, but is a constant consideration throughout the year as it should be.

Fundraising and Awareness

We also designated 28 June 2022 June as ‘Wear a Rainbow to Work Day’ to coincide with International LGBT+ Pride Day.

On this day staff showed their support through attending work wearing garments and/or accessories with vibrant colours and fundraise for the following LGBTQ+ charities:

  • Stonewall  Stonewall will continue to stand with, and fight for, the freedom, equity and potential of all LGBTQ+ people. https://www.stonewall.org.uk

Radii Planet Group will also be matching all donations coming from our people.

Equal Opportunities

Finally, our Equal Opportunities Policy is regularly reviewed and updated to reflect the modern workplace, and our Wellbeing Policy is specifically targeted at promoting and ensuring a positive working environment for all, including our LGBTQ+ community.
