Are You Confident in Specifying Fire Rated Solutions?

Are You Confident in Specifying Fire Rated Solutions?

The use of fire-rated glass in offices is essential for creating a safe, compliant, and aesthetically pleasing workspace that prioritizes the well-being of occupants and the protection of assets.

However, specifying fire-rated glazing into office designs presents architects with several challenges in trying to find a fully compliant solution that also matches the original design intent.

Our new RIBA-accredited CPD session, titled Fire-Rated Glass and Door Specification Points, aims to provide the A&D community with a comprehensive overview of all the key considerations to bear in mind when it comes to adding fire rated partitions, doors and structural glazing to your specification.

What does this CPD session cover?

Designed to be highly informative but in a digestible format, the CPD is split into five main sections:

Performance

Focusing on the initial fire strategy document of a built environment to help identify the initial required performance criteria that are the foundation of a successful fire rated solution.

In this section, our knowledgeable CPD presenters will cover elements including: integrity and insulation; acoustics; deflection; loading; and air pressure.

Design

How can the specific design elements of a fire rated system be adjusted to ensure a seamless integration in the surrounding space?

Here our attendees will learn how to best consider structural capabilities; configuration with NFR components; how employer requirements shape design; CDM; NBS Chorus; BIM and the final aesthetic finish.

Doors

Fire rated doors play a pivotal role in the compartmentalisation of fire incidents, safeguarding occupants, and mitigating property damage.

Topics in this section include door functionality; the importance of clear openings; access control, ironmongery and overpanels.

Accreditations

It is imperative that any chosen subcontractors involved in the design, manufacture and installation of fire rated solutions have the proper certifications to carry out the work.

With reference to regulations and accreditations such as Part B of the Building Safety Act; the Equality Act; Certifire and more, we will demonstrate to attendees what a good fire rated solutions service should look like from inception to completion.

Project Experience

Finally, we will showcase some of our most notable completed fire rated projects and give a brief overview of how our fire systems and associated regulatory advice service was able to provide architects and main contractors with a comprehensive solution to their requirements.
