THE CLIENT.

City Tower Manchester is a landmark commercial building in the heart of the city. While the majority of floors provide conventional office space, the 16th floor was refurbished and repurposed for building owners Schroders Capital as a flexible, shared workplace.

Designed by OBI Property, the space combines timber finishes and natural materials to create a warm, inviting environment. It features coworking zones, meeting pods, bookable meeting rooms, a studio space, and The Nook — a quiet retreat for focus and relaxation — enhancing workplace quality, collaboration and visual connectivity throughout the floor.

OUR SOLUTION.

Our northern contracting team delivered a compact yet high-quality glazing solution for the 16th floor of City Tower, focusing on the offices and meeting rooms to achieve a seamless balance of transparency, acoustic performance, and design integrity. The project made extensive use of our single-glazed timber-framed Dovetail partitions, featuring a bespoke profile width and finished in lacquered European Oak to complement the floor’s natural material palette.

The doors were single-glazed IsoClear units, designed to fit directly within the timber partition frame without additional framing, maintaining a clean, consistent aesthetic throughout. Door components, including self-closing hinges, drop-down seals, and door stops, were carefully colour-matched to the oak frames, ensuring that every detail aligned with the overall design vision.
