Now officially launched as the Sloane Robinson Building, the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus is one of the most significant university campus developments in the UK.

Sitting alongside Bristol Temple Meads station, it forms a new front door to the University and a home for its world-class teaching and research across business, innovation, digital engineering, artificial intelligence, cyber security, advanced telecommunications and quantum technologies — fields that are advancing rapidly and which will help define the future of our economy and society.

Working alongside Sir Robert McAlpine and Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios (FCBStudios), our Western contracting team began work in 2024 to deliver a high-performance glazed partitioning solution across the campus.

This project was the largest contract ever awarded to our Western contracting team — comprising a full atrium screening system, floorplate partitioning, glazed doors and fire-rated glazing package.

1,000 SQUARE METRES OF GLAZING.

t the heart of the building sit four internal gardens, designed as welcoming spaces to unwind and boost wellbeing, with seating and foliage for quiet contemplation or social interaction. Our glazing frames these atrium spaces throughout.

At their centre sit double glazed Pure 100 atrium screens rising to 3.4m in height and offering Rw 53 dB of acoustic privacy to the internal learning environments and offices.

At the upper level, selected Pure 100 screens incorporate a bespoke access door to provide floor level maintenance access. This solution is based on our IsoPro door mechanism and designed after consultation with our in-house R&D Centre of Excellence based at our group headquarters.

At ground floor, IsoPro glazed doors are paired with Pure 100 overpanels to match the height of the surrounding atrium screens, maintaining a continuous full-height glazed line throughout. In total, 266 screens were installed from floor to ceiling, totalling just over 1,000 square metres of glass.

EXEMPLARY ACOUSTIC PRIVACY AND FIRE RATED PROTECTION.

Beyond the atrium, our team delivered glazed partitioning throughout the building’s working spaces. Pure 20 single glazed partitions were installed to the floorplates, achieving Rw 40 dB acoustic performance across the teaching and research areas, with double glazed IsoPro doors integrated throughout.

At ground floor, our team installed double doors with access control and Pure 20 side barriers, providing robust, hard-wearing entry points built for high-circulation areas.

Fire-rated performance runs across the building. EI120 FirePro glazed screens to the staircores deliver 120 minutes of integrity and insulation alongside Rw 47 dB acoustic performance to these critical escape routes.

EI30 and EI60 FirePro were installed elsewhere as full-height screens, with EI30 also specified as part-height windows.

A LANDMARK FOR THE WESTERN TEAM.

Almost five years on from our initial design tender, the Sloane Robinson Building stands as a landmark moment for the division — and the largest single project our Western contracting team has ever delivered.

It brings together the full breadth of our expertise in a single scheme: precision partitioning across the floorplates, large-scale feature atrium glazing, and a comprehensive fire-rated package — a fitting benchmark for the scale and complexity our team can deliver.
