THE CLIENT.

Located at 40 Leadenhall Street, Project Shinka represents a significant relocation within the City of London. Spanning Levels 5 and 6, the new workspace has been designed to reflect a modern, collaborative way of working — connected, open, and focused on delivering for brokers, customers, and partners.

Although the end client remains confidential, the brief was clear: create an environment that supports performance while investing in colleague wellbeing. The move demonstrates a continued commitment to providing a workplace where great work thrives — balancing transparency with privacy, and openness with acoustic control.

OUR SOLUTION.

The primary system used throughout was our Parallel 64 double glazed partition system — the latest addition to the Parallel range — achieving Rw 48 dB acoustic performance across enclosed rooms and meeting spaces. Low iron glass was specified throughout to maximise clarity and light transmission, maintaining clean sightlines across both floors.

Glazed doors were formed using our Hogan double glazed pivot system, manufactured at 64mm width and rated to Rw 35 dB. The majority were single leaf configurations, with two double leaf sets incorporating access control. The 64mm door profile aligns directly with the Parallel 64 framework, ensuring consistent proportions and detailing across the scheme.

Bespoke veneered timber doors in American Black Walnut were installed to selected areas, including single leaf doors to prayer and wellness rooms and a crown cut, book matched double leaf arrangement to the boardroom. The veneered finish sits alongside the glazed systems to introduce material contrast while maintaining alignment with the overall design language.
