PROJECT. OBJECTIVES

Client Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors

When the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) were looking to move into their new Head Office, just off Princess Street in the heart of Edinburgh, Michael Laird Architects asked Planet Partitioning to put together a specification for the Category B fit-out of the existing building.

With uninterrupted views of Edinburgh Castle, the new facility hosts events and provides flexible, ecologically sound offices for RICS Scotland staff and three partner organisations.

Our
solution.

Working closely with Souness & Boyne, Planet Partitioning used p100 frameless double glazing system throughout to create meeting rooms and offices with high acoustic performance, in a simple grey design.

Complying with RICS’ own SKA rating on environmental assessment, Planet Partitioning installed deflection heads to the partition system throughout. This ensured all partitioning was relocatable and the fit-out met with the client’s sustainability targets.

The eight-week job also involved installing minimal framework double glazed doors throughout the meeting rooms and offices, to complement the p100 double glazed partitions.

    Project insights.

Souness & Boyne had never used Planet Partitioning’s flexible partitioning system before but, having seen Planet’s approach to design, detail and delivery, they now prefer it to their previous supplier’s.

The RICS Head Office became the first building in Scotland to achieve a Gold award for its SKA rating.
