PROJECT. OBJECTIVES

Client University of Oxford

The Kennedy Building and Nuffield Department of Medicine building are part of a large research facility at Oxford University. Mace approached Planet to work alongside Make architects and provide specification for all the new building’s internal glazing needs – for offices, meeting rooms and laboratories.

Our
solution.

The specification for the Kennedy Building meeting rooms and offices required high acoustic performance and a high quality finish. So Planet installed PURE100 double glazed partitioning system with a frosted glass decal pattern for visual contrast. Double glazed glass doors featured in all the meeting rooms and offices – some with venetian blinds for added privacy.

To meet acoustic performance targets and enhance the look and feel of the laboratories in the Nuffield building, Planet used PURE100 with bespoke aluminium doorframes and low-iron glass to maintain transparency. Several offices run parallel to the laboratories and Planet used PURE20 for a slim-lined glass separation.

Planet installed deflection heads on all partition system wall cladding with back-painted glass screens throughout the main reception area, where installing multiple doors, screens and shutters involved detailed designs to ensure a striking finish.
