PROJECT. OBJECTIVES

Client University of Westminster

The University of Westminster was Britain’s first polytechnic, founded in 1838. Since then it has developed into a university with metropolitan and cosmopolitan dimensions, involved in business and academic life, across London and overseas.

Hawkins Brown approached Planet for help with a Category-B fit-out of the Dean’s office and the design of offices and meeting rooms.

Our
solution.

For the meeting room frontages, Planet used PURE54 demountable glazing system with a narrow profile that meets the required acoustic performance at 45 dB Rw.

Doors also required high acoustic performance – 40 dB Rw – so Planet Partitioning provided its market-leading IsoPro acoustic glazed doors, incorporating a slim, sealed metal surround with double-glazed panels. Black steel door frameworks ensure a striking and seamless look between the partitioning and doors.

Grey frosting in the partitioning provides visual contrast and helps navigation around the different offices.

    Project insights.

IsoPro acoustic glazed doors are part of Planet’s premium range and provide the best acoustic glass door performance on the market. The door handle and lock mechanism is incorporated into the 60mm profile. For Westminster’s Dean’s offices, all IsoPro doors have discreet door closers built in to the door frame, great for busy rooms as they avoid large traditional closing arms or floor springs.
