What were once underperforming sixties buildings for British Telecom, have now been transformed into the Bower, a new mixed-use quarter located adjacent to Old Street roundabout. Featuring 320,000 sq ft of modern office space, vibrant restaurants and retail zones, the Bower sets a new standard for commercial design in London.
One of the biggest challenges was to work within the parameters of the existing 1060's office structure with the building tolerances, which had to be considered to meet the design intent.
Furthermore the newly created double height, split-level offices required the development of a handrail-like component across the glazing system at mezzanine level, to act as a base to fix a screen privacy baffle - if is required by a tenant at a later date to ensure they are not overlooked.
