PROJECT. OBJECTIVES

Client Bauer Media Group

Britain’s biggest magazine publisher and global entertainment network, Bauer Media Group, needed to bring together their staff from two offices across London into one space. They found a Grade II listed building in Camden, North London. With over 420,000 sq. ft. it was large enough to house all 800 members of staff, and have additional offices to lease.

The building required a complete CAT B fit out, this ambitious refurbishment took 6 months to complete with the architects, Spacelab working to restore the building’s original features and Modernist heritage.

SOLUTION.

Planet Partitioning were bought on to design, supply and install the interior glazed partitioning and doors to the meeting rooms, lobby, and corridors throughout the building, working in three phases over a 6-month period, a wide range of products were installed to meet the various specifications.

To compliment the building’s heritage, the interior was based on the mid-century era. Planet Partitioning’s LOFT range perfectly encapsulated the vintage aesthetic, with both LOFT20 and LOFT54 being used throughout the scheme. In the lobby area fire ratings were required, FireTec met the specification by achieving up to 60/60 (Ei60). The FireTec doors and screens had mullions and transoms applied in the identical colour and width to unify the LOFT theme.

    PROJECT INSIGHTS.

    Working within a Grade II listed building threw us some challenges on site, working within set parameters of the building and minimal storage being examples. Additional challenges were working in an occupied building where drilling hours were limited to ensure as little disturbance to staff as possible. However, the Planet Partitioning team were praised by ISG for completing a successful handover and control over the site.
