TIMBER FRAMED FIRE PROTECTION SCREENS FOR NEW RAIL RESEARCH FACILITY.
The new School of Engineering at the University of Birmingham is a key milestone in the university’s redevelopment. Handed over in November 2020, it provides a state-of-the-art space to facilitate cutting-edge railway engineering research. With its innovative design and collaborative spaces, the building fosters advanced research and industry collaboration, driving forward innovation in the rail sector.
Our contracting team in the Midlands provided partitions and doors and consulted closely with the architects to adjust solutions to ensure they matched the overall design intent of the building. Our FireEco Ei30 timber framed partitions provided exit route protection along with Geze automatic doors and matching NFR timber partitions where fire rating was not required.
Timber plinths and skirting details were deployed to keep partition panels below the required height, while dummy mullions to fire screens helped keep a consistent aesthetic finish.
