Client Wellington Hospital

Wellington Hospital in St John’s Wood, North London, is the largest private hospital in the United Kingdom and is widely known for its cardiac, neurosurgery, rehabilitation and other related services.

Balfour Beatty approached Planet Partitioning with a high-performance refurbishment specification. Working with Balfour Beatty, Planet Partitioning’s design team advised how they could achieve the requirements for the patient and consulting rooms, and for fire performance in the communal areas.

Our
solution.

For all the patient and treatment rooms, Planet used PURE20 demountable glass partition system with Eclipse sliding doors. FireStop partitioning from RPG Fire ensures the lift lobby partition has a fire integrity and insulation rating of EI120/120. Doors for the lift lobby are fire rated to EI 60/60 and steel framed.

Wellington Hospital was one of the biggest developments in the UK independent Healthcare sector in the last two decades. The project took just over three months for Planet to complete.

Project insights.

The lift lobby fire partitioning glass weighed approximately 250 kilograms per square metre, so each piece of glass weighed nearly half a ton – Planet’s experienced installation team devised a safe and efficient way to move and install the glass panels.
